Farmall® U Series 

Engineered for dependable, quiet, clean operation, Farmall® 85U, 95U and 105U (Tier 4 option also available for 105U) tractors are powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine that is turbocharged and intercooled, clean burning, fuel efficient, and Tier 3-emissions certified. The Farmall 105U and 115U have all the same great features but are Tier 4-emissions certified. The rugged 4.5-L (274-CID) engine provides maximum power and torque response:

• Up to 98 PTO hp (73 kW) to get you through challenging terrain and tough crop and soil conditions

The turbocharger in Farmall U Series tractors boosts engine power and torque and reduces noise emissions.
 
Engine Design

• Cross-Flow® cylinder head design provides better combustion, increased horsepower and improved fuel efficiency:
  • Cool air is taken in on one side
  • Exhaust is emitted on the other side
  • Intake air is not warmed by hot exhaust
• Piston swirl effect:
  • Allows optimal air-fuel mixing
  • Provides maximum efficiency from Bosch rotary fuel injection pump
  • Durable dry-sleeve design and strong structural block ensure extended life
  • Dynamic balancer reduces vibration for smoother operation
    

Farmall® U transmission options range from rugged mechanical transmissions to a sophisticated two-speed Powershift. Choose from four transmissions to fit the way you farm. An optional hydraulically engaged wet clutch is available for smoother performance and longer life.

12x12 Standard Transmission

• Features three ranges with four synchronized speeds per range
• Allows you to shift on the go between gears in each of the ranges
• Provides more speeds in the critical 2–9 mph (3–14 kph) working range
• The synchronized mechanical shuttle lets you shift from forward to reverse in any gear

12x12 Power Shuttle Transmission

• Includes a clutch-free, electro-hydraulic Power Shuttle for smooth direction change
• Lets you speed up cycle times
• Makes this transmission ideal for loader work 

24x24 Transmission

Includes two-speed Powershift and Power Shuttle

• Powershift provides a HI and LO speed in every gear
  • Press the Powershift button on the transmission lever for a 15 percent decrease in speed and an 18 percent increase in torque to pull through tough spots on the go without interrupting PTO speed
• Power Shuttle provides smooth, clutch-free direction changes and faster cycle times for loader work
  • The shuttle lever is located on the left side of the steering column for fingertip control, freeing your right hand to operate the loader or implement
• MFD models feature a higher top transport speed of 22 mph (35 kph), depending on tire size

• The spacious Farmall U cab is big and comfortable with roomy dimensions and convenient control placement.

• High-capacity hydraulic system provides a total flow of 26.5 gpm (100.5 Lpm) with 16.1 gpm (61 Lpm) at the remotes — ample flow for demanding applications
• Dependable 16.1-gpm (61-Lpm) hydraulic gear pump provides hydraulic power to the remotes and 3-point hitch
  • Separate steering pump provides 10.4 gpm (39.5 Lpm) to hydrostatic steering system
  • Combining the valve on the steering pump automatically sends excess flow to the optional mid-mount loader valve with joystick, providing up to 21 gpm (79.5 Lpm) of hydraulic flow to further loader operations
• Two closed-center rear remotes with detent and float positions are standard

Farmall U Series tractors’ tough 3-point hitch is made of forged steel and features:

• A 5,745-lb. (2,605-kg) lift capacity on models with mechanical draft control
• A 6,445-lb. (2,923-kg) lift capacity on models with EDC option
• Standard telescoping link ends and stabilizers and a turnbuckle leveling system for easy implement attachment
• A convenient Fast Raise/Lower feature on the mechanical draft hitch that saves time by providing push-button control of the 3-point hitch, making turns easier by returning implement to its working depth
• A mechanical lower-link draft-sensing system that provides position and draft control on Farmall U tractors not equipped with EDC

• PTO operation is independent of tractor ground speed
  • You can stop the tractor without stopping the PTO and vice versa
• PTO is mechanically engaged
  • Operates using a single lever, conveniently located on your left to simplify operation

Farmall® U axles are available with 2WD or MFD and are:

• Adjustable to various tread settings to suit different cropping needs
• Tough enough to take the punishment of field and transport
• Equipped with mechanical wet-disc brakes for better brake performance

A 55-degree turn angle on the front MFD axle and 2WD axle provides maximum maneuverability.

The standard mechanical differential lock on rear axles — and limited slip front axle on MFD models — provides added traction in slippery, tough conditions.
