DRIVES/AXLES
Steiger® tractors feature a heavy-duty, 4.5-in. (115-mm) bar-type axle (4-in./102-mm on Steiger 335), known to take high-torque load punishment throughout a long life. Axles efficiently transfer engine power through the transmission to the ground, for maximum pulling power and unmatched in-field performance.

The Quadtrac® axle features a unique design to handle increased torque and load-handling capabilities. The drive train has delivered solid reliability thanks to an offset, three-planetary final drive, and a specially-designed flange hub axle.
A heavy duty Case IH 4.5 in. (115 mm) diameter bar axle allows infinite wheel tread adjustment without special rims or spacers.
Heavy-Duty Axles
4-in. (102-mm) axle on the Steiger 335 and the 4.5-in. (115-mm) axle on all other models allow for easy wheel tread settings:
  • 60 - 176 in. (152 - 447 cm) with duals (Steiger 335 only)
  • Accommodates more row spacings and tire configurations
Performance advantages include:
  • Built-in structural strength from massive axle housings
  • Dependable braking delivered by hydraulic wet-disk brakes on front and rear axles
  • Optional hydraulic differential locks (separate for front and rear axles) improve traction in slippery conditions
Heavy duty Case IH Steiger tractors use inboard/compound planetary final drives to handle massive loads.
Final Drives
  • Inboard four-planetary final drive standard for Steiger wheeled models (three-planetary for Steiger 335)
  • Inboard/compound planetary final drive provide outstanding load handling for heavy-duty Steiger configurations (four-planetary for Steiger 335 HD)
  • Offset three-planetary final drives with flange hub specially designed for Quadtrac models
  • Cool, filtered oil lubricates ground spiral bevel gear sets, bearings and final drives for a strong, durable and quiet operation
Case IH AccuSteer II allows in-row corrections without articulating the entire tractor due to of its double articulation design.
Steiger 335 with AccuSteer II
  • True row crop capability with the power of a 4WD now available with Steiger 335 AccuSteer™ II
  • Unique double articulation design allows front frame to articulate up to 10 degrees before center articulation takes over for better row crop control and a tighter turning radius than standard 2WD or MFD row crop tractors
